5 U:NEW Dance Wave Festival 2025 – Visible and Tender– November 13-17 2025
The fifth edition of the U:NEW Dance Wave Festival invites audiences to immerse themselves in movement that flows through bodies, the city, and human connections. This year’s theme, “Visible and Tender,” is an invitation to experience dance as a space of mutual recognition, togetherness, and shared feeling.
At its core is the body—not idealized or spectacular, but authentic: carrying its own history, experience, and sensitivity. This edition emphasizes that dance does not need to be loud to be powerful. Sometimes the strongest gestures are the smallest ones. Tenderness becomes the language of movement. Visibility becomes a form of acknowledging one another.
The program includes performances, short choreographic works, and films in the field of contemporary dance and experimental choreography, presented across two distinct urban spaces: the Culture Promotion Center in Praga-Południe—a district with a strong local pulse and neighborhood energy—and the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute in Śródmieście, located in the heart of Warsaw—a place of dialogue, reflection, and exchange of ideas. Together, these venues create a bridge between different rhythms of the city, inviting encounters between art and everyday life.
The festival creates a space for dialogue between HOTELOKO Company—the initiating ensemble—and artists from Poland, Europe, and the Mediterranean region (including Corsica and Italy). The program features works by HOTELOKO Company, the festival organizer, including “(M)OTHERS” and “TAOS – The Age of Shiver,” as well as presentations by emerging artists, such as the evening “DANCE NIGHT / WAVE OF DANCE.”
The program is curated by Agata Życzkowska—choreographer, performer, and curator—who has long supported the development of young artists and built bridges between movement practices and the social dimension of art.
The festival highlights diverse perspectives and bodies in dance, encouraging dialogue around ecology, community, queerness, and mental well-being in both creative and audience practices. U:NEW Dance Wave Festival unfolds in motion—it is an invitation to participate, observe, empathize, and co-create.
The wave of movement continuously shapes the art of dance: from intergenerational encounters to social and ecological transformations. The festival itself is like a wave—spreading, returning, and leaving a trace.
