“LUXA” is a performance by Agata Życzkowska exploring luxury items for girls and women, and questioning what luxury can mean in a given social, movement-based, or philosophical context. It’s an attempt to address luxury through the lens of human relationships within the world of pop culture. Luxury could be jade in bottle green – a natural stone gifted by nature. It could also be cocoa beans, once more valuable than gold and now increasing in worth every year. For a modern woman, luxury might be something immaterial – freedom of choice, access to knowledge, or simply the ability to be oneself in accordance with personal values and needs.
Luxury has many faces.
What else could luxury be for a woman in today’s Poland, or in Europe?

“Becoming Taiga” is a meeting of members from a transformative learning/unlearning space and a tender, supportive community called TAIGA and FJORDS, created by the new visions organization (Berlin). The program was developed as a safer and braver space for people with life experience as women, who combine artistic and activist work – primarily in Eastern Europe or as migrants across Europe. It’s about warmth and sensation, community and care, slowness and love, groundedness and radicality. The first gathering took place in August 2022 at Massia*ru in Estonia. The film is a poetic documentation of that event – blending documentary imagery with the participants’ poetry, songs, expressed needs, natural surroundings, movement, intimacy, and the strength that unfolded during those days in the Estonian forest..
